Twenty area residents among 63 arraigned on criminal counts

Twenty area residents were among 63 who were arraigned Monday morning in the Schuylkill County courthouse before District Attorney Karen Byrnes Noon on criminal charges and all entered pleas of not guilty and requested trial by jury.

Michael Sean Balogach, 48, of 32 Deer Trail, Nesquehoning, charged by West Penn Township Patrolman Glenn R. Laninger, last Nov. 22 with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic on West Penn Pike.Michael Carl Reber, 26, of 144 Coal St., Cumbola, Blythe Township, charged by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Kenneth A. Jacoby, last Nov. 19 with DUI of alcohol, failing to have car lights on during required period, and having an open can of alcohol beverage in vehicle.Kelly Gabrielle Bredamus, 44, of 18 E. Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig, last Dec. 4 with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on police officer, assault by prisoner, and two counts each of simple assault and disorderly conduct which occurred in the office of District Judge Stephen Bayer.Briant T. Boner, 51, of 1 W. Diaz Avenue, Nesquehoning, charged by Rush Township Sgt. Duane Frederick, last Aug. 13 with theft of flower pots belonging to the Lake Hauto Club.Amber L. Mummert, 27, of 216 N. Greenwood St., Tamaqua, charged by Sgt. Frederick with criminal conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, when stopped last Oct. 12. The police report claims 20 baggies of heroin were found in the car.Joel P. Farber, 31, of 43 Hunter St., Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Joseph Krebs, last Sept. 9 with DUI of alcohol, failing to have car lights on during required period, and driving a vehicle without an official inspection certificate when stopped at intersection of Berwick and Rowe sts.Christopher C. Duane Frederick, last Oct. 2 with delivery of a controlled substance (CS), possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of cell phone, possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia when stopped on Cedar St.Paul Michael Sholtis, 32, of 145 E. Adams St., McAdoo, was charged by McAdoo Chief Jeffrey Wainwright, last Oct. 12 with simple assault and harassment of Alexis Merenda following a domestic dispute. Sholtis was also charged by Patrolman Jeffrey Tanner, last Oct. 12 with simple assault and harassment of Merenda.Jennifer Lynne Wood, 20, of 110 Market St., Tamaqua, charged by Trooper Edward Sanchez last Oct. 8 with two counts each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, recklessly endangering another person, and one count of criminal mischief. The police report claims Wood attacked two victims at 123 Park Place Road, Mahanoy Township, with a steel frying pan, a small shovel, and a full size spade shovel after she broke into the residence of her ex-boyfriend Thomas Kehl.Michael E. Smits, who was his employer, and theft of the wallet and checks from the victim's truck, and receiving stolen property.Robin Lee Swartz, 54, of Pottsville, formerly of New Ringgold, charged by Rush Patrolman Bradley Hess, last July 18 with DUI of alcohol when stopped in unit block on Lincoln Street.Phillip Michael Ryan, 24, of 402 Hazle St., Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Peter Wysochansky, last June 16 with aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, DUI of alcohol and drugs, driving under combined influence, recklessly endangering another person, careless driving, possessing an open can of alcohol beverage in vehicle, failing to drive on right side of roadway, and reckless driving on Tagersville Road.Michael Anthony Ciccozzi, 53, of 36 Market St., Kelayres, Kline Township, charged by Kline Township Officer James Patterson, last Aug. 20 with terroristic threats and harassment of Fred Welsh by swinging a baseball bat at him; and disorderly conduct by engaging in fighting.Theresa Rose Schreffler, 49, of 40 Schreffler Lane, Zion Grove, North Union Township, charged by Trooper Joseph Aponick last Sept. 30 with DUI of alcohol when stopped in Patterson, Union Township.Stephanie Ann Stegmier, 30, of 366 Mill Mountain Road, New Ringgold, charged by State Attorney General's Office with two counts of insurance fraud, and one count each of criminal attempt of theft by deception and criminal conspiracy to commit theft by deception. The state agency charges Stegmier with giving false statements as to the time and circumstances of an automobile accident and her attempt to fraudulently collect approximately $7,100 of insurance proceeds.Andrea F. Stegmier, 59, mother of Stephanie Stegmier, faces charges filed by the state attorney general's office of criminal conspiracy to commit theft and conspiracy by calling the insurance company and giving a false report of time of accident to cover insurance expiration.Michael Jay Brodie, 27, of 231 W. Sherman St., Apt. 3, McAdoo, charged by Pottsville Cpl. Mark D. O'Toole, last Dec. 1 with aggravated assault by prisoner. The police report claims when McAdoo police officers Steven Honanko and Jeffrey Tanner brought Brodie to the county prison for failing to post bail on charges they brought against him that he spit and tossed urine at a prison guard.Marvin Marion Nowling, 50, of 125 Coal St., Apt. D, Cumbola, Blythe Township, charged by Trooper Brian L. Walters last Aug. 12 with access device fraud by using debit card of Mary Renner in several ATM machines to obtain $2,188.50. Nowling was also charged by Trooper Walters last Nov. 2 with possession of a CS when he was arrested on a bench warrant.Krystal M.
