Classrooms at St. Peter and Paul Catholic School all have a brand new hue thanks to "Painting a Brighter Future" grant provided by Lehighton Hardware.

Through the grant, each of the classrooms at St. Peter and Paul Catholic School, received a fresh coat of paint. The grant provided 40 gallons of paint. The classrooms have been painted blue, green, lavender and eggshell. The value of the paint is about $1,200.The painting was done by staff and volunteers.Marzen's Hardware also provide additional supplies, spray paint for the radiators and tape.Students in the classrooms were pleased with their classrooms' new looks.I like the blue color because it matches the personality of the class," said student Galilea Villagomez."I like the blue because it looks like the ocean when we're at the beach," noted student Grace Lorenz."I think it looks nice," said Robert Kuznicki. "It brightened the whole room. It makes the pictures stand out.""It was much needed," said principal Sherry Ambrose. "It refreshed the classrooms. I want to thank Joe Wilhem and his volunteers for making a difference."Ambrose said that the a short application was submitted for the grant."We had to submit application which required us to submit the sizes of the rooms and who would do the work," she said. "Then we allowed the children to help choose the colors."Linda Guy, manager of Lehighton Hardware, said that the grant was through True Value Foundation. Each store sent letters to area schools to tell them about the grant and St. Peter and Paul was selected."I'm glad they got picked," said Guy. "I'm sure it made an improvement in the school."True Value retailers, in partnership with True Value Foundation provide grants for up to 40 gallons of paint through the Painting a Brighter Future program to more than 100 schools each year. Since 2009, True Value has covered more than 3 million square feet of classrooms with a fresh coat of assistance.
