By a five-to-four vote, Lehighton Area School Board re-elected Rocky Ahner as school board president at its reorganization meeting.

Voting in favor of Ahner were William Hill, Jr., Hal Resh, Wayne Wentz, Thomas Zimmerman, and Ahner.John Finnegan, Dave Krause, Larry Stern, and Andrew Yenser voted in favor of former school board president Krause."The students will always be my number on priority," said Ahner.Resh was re-elected to serve as vice president.Following his re-election, Ahner made the following committee appointments.The Negotiations and Personnel Committee will be chaired by Wentz - with Ahner, Hill, and Resh serving as committee members.Yenser will chair the Budget and Finance Committee as Treasurer. Ahner and Resh round out the committee.Chairing the Building and Grounds Committee will be Wentz, assisted by Hill.Krause will chair the Policy Committee with the assistance of Finnegan. Ahner.Resh will comprise the Legislative Policy Committee.Additional appointments include Zimmerman to the Advisory Committee of Title I and Finnegan to both the Lehighton Memorial Library Board and the Wellness Committee.The next meeting of Lehighton Area School Board is scheduled for Monday, January 28 at 7 p.m. at LASD Administration Building, Conference Room A.The meetings are open to the public.
