One arrested in robbery incident

One person was arrested and two others are being sought following a armed robbery incident that occurred in Schuylkill County on Monday, Jan. 21. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred between 8:44 and 8:50 p.m. at the Econo Lodge, located at 419 Suedberg Rd. in Pine Grove Township.

Troopers said Shawn Butler, 20, and David Turby, 19, both of New Cumberland, Cumberland County, were confronted by three people at the motel and robbed at knife point. Taken was $2,520 in U.S. currency, troopers said.Through a further investigation troopers arrested Kendall Wells, 20, of Tower City, at his residence without incident. While taking him into custody troopers found a green leafy substance in a clear plastic bag that tested positive for marijuana.Troopers said Wells was positively identified by the two victims as one of the persons who robbed them. The other two suspects being sough are a female, believe to be 19 from Lemoyne, Cumberland County, who is known by the victims, and a male, not known.Wells was arraigned before District Judge Carol Pankake, of Tremont, on charges of robbery, criminal conspiracy-robbery, theft, criminal conspiracy-theft, receiving stolen property (two counts), criminal conspiracy-simple assault, and a possession of a controlled substance.He failed to post $35,000 straight cash bail and was committed to the county prison in Pottsville.Troopers are actively seeking the other two suspects.
