At a special meeting of the directors of Mauch Chunk School District, bids for the construction of the new high school were awarded as follows: general construction, M. A. Carty, Phillipsburg, $108,250; heating and ventilating, Norbert Corrigan, Hazleton, $24,964; plumbing, Costenbader Brothers, Palmerton, $11,397.87; electrical work, William L. Long Co., Upper Darby, $9,562. All awards were made tentative because the WPA must sanction all contracts.
