Drivers cited after Schuylkill crashes

Two drivers were cited following two, one vehicle crashes along Schuylkill County roadways recently.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the first crash was reported about 4:20 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, along SR895, just east of Woodland Drive, in South Manheim Township. Troopers said Angela Emery, 32, of Auburn, was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle. The car went onto the south berm where the drivers' side impacted with a utility pole shearing it in half. The car came to rest facing east off the south side.Emery was not injured but damages were disabling to the vehicle. She was cited for a motor vehicle code violation, troopers added.The second crash occurred about 3:55 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, along Schuylkill Mountain Road, in Wayne Township. Troopers said Kyle J. Stricker, 27, of Leesport, Berks County, was driving a 2011 Subaru Impreza westbound and approaching a sharp left curve. He lost control of the car and applied the brakes.The car left 63 feet of skid marks from the right side prior to crossing over the road and onto the berm. It left an additional 55 feet of marks on the road before hitting a large rock along the berm.After impact with the rock the car traveled another 135 feet before it came to rest facing west blocking the westbound lane.Stricker was not injured but damages were extensive to the vehicle. He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
