Firefighters raising donations to paint Schuylkill Red Cross van

Members of the Tamaqua Rescue Squad, Tamaqua Fire Department and West Penn Fire Department are teaming up to paint the Schuylkill County Red Cross's van. The chapter can't afford another vehicle after their other vehicle's engine blew up. They are using their old blue van when responding to fires and such. Red Cross volunteers routinely respond to fires and natural disasters in and around Schuylkill County. Firefighters and other volunteers will donate their time sanding and painting. All they need is $350 for the paint. Tamaqua Rescue Squad member Edward Boerner is putting up the initial $350 to paint the van and is hoping people will donate. "The Red Cross does tons for all our local families, firefighters and rescue personnel," said Boerner. "This is the least we could do." If you can donate, please mail any donation to the West Penn Fire Company, 21 Municipal Road, New Ringgold PA 17960. Please put "Red Cross van paint" in the note. Key volunteers are Ed Boerner, Kelly Boerner, Ronny Ziegler and Tom's Autobody.
