Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roads recently.

A two vehicle crash was reported about 3:32 p.m. on Jan. 9 along Mill Creek Avenue, in East Norwegian Township. Troopers said Joanne M. Elrod, 70, of Saint Clair, was stopped for a stop sign when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by Myung K. Ko, 20, of Saint Clair.Ko and passenger Travis Evans, 19, of Pottsville, Elrod and her passenger, Brandon Elrod, 21, of Saint Clair, were all not injured.Ko's vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Ko was cited for careless driving.A one vehicle accident was reported about 7:02 p.m. on Jan. 10 along SR209 in Porter Township. Troopers said Tony P. Maurer, 28, of Millersburg, Dauphin County, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet 3500 truck southbound and looking for his cell phone causing the truck to leave the roadway.The truck struck a rock embankment, traveled about 40-feet along the embankment, before swerving to the left. It then rotated 180 degrees and traveled another 50 feet in the southbound lane before coming to rest partially on the southbound travel lane and on the west shoulder with the rear bumper against a embankment.Maurer was not injured but the truck had to be towed. He as cited for careless driving, troopers said.A one vehicle crash occurred about 7:33 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, along Cressona Road in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Gerald K. Schoenauer, 65, of Pottsville, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound when he struck a large boulder which had fallen off a hillside and onto the road.The undercarriage of the car struck the boulder. After impact the car continued east with the boulder still under it. Schoenauer pulled off onto the south berm.Schoenauer and his wife, Barbara, 65, were not injured. The car had to be towed from the scene.
