A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, along Wade Road, in New Castle Township.

State police at Frackville said Allen Harig, 34, of Saint Clair, was driving a 2006 Mercedes C280 eastbound and attempted to turn onto Birch St.He was traveling too fast for conditions to make the turn, troopers said, and his vehicle left the road and struck the top of a concrete retaining wall.After impact the car then struck the west side of the residence 1219 Wade Road, where it came to rest facing north.Harig fled the scene on foot but was later located at his residence and appeared to be under the influence. He was administered field sobriety tests.The car had to be towed and damages were minor to the residence.The DUI charge against Harig is pending test results, troopers added.
