Lehigh Township man under influence of chemicals

Ian Patrick Becker, 27, of the 4100 block of Heritage Lane, Lehigh Township, was allegedly under the influence of 10 different chemicals when he was pulled over for a November traffic stop in Walnutport while a child was in the vehicle.

Becker, 27, was pulled over at 5:55 p.m. Nov. 28 in the 300 block of South Best Avenue in Walnutport.A police officer recognized Becker's vehicle and license plate and knew Becker's license was under suspension.When the officer pulled Becker over, he found Becker was having a hard time keeping his eyes open and had extremely slurred speech.Becker had a child in the vehicle with him at the time.Becker failed field sobriety tests and was found to be in possession of some marijuana.He was taken to the Palmerton Hospital, where he submitted to a blood test.Police say Becker's blood came back testing positive for 10 different chemicals, including methadone and morphine.He was arraigned before District Judge Robet Hawke on several charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a child, failure to wear a seat belt and driving with a suspended license.Becker was sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
