A charge of theft of leased property was dismissed against Brian S. Craig, 48, Shenandoah, by President Judge William E. Baldwin.A motion to nolle prosequi was presented to court by District Attorney Karen Byrnes Noon because the victim did not wish to prosecute because full restitution was made.The charge against Craig was brought by Trooper Timothy J. Rymarkiewicz after the victim, Lok-Weld Company, East Norwegian Township, complained Craig had leased a chainsaw for eight days and failed to return it or pay for its use. The settlement was for $1,200.Warrant hearingsJudge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin held hearings on people brought to court on bench warrants.Richard H. Melicharek, 51, of 319 N. Columbia St., Tamaqua, after a hearing his bench warrant was dissolved and bail reset at $5,000 percentage cash. He was charged by West Penn Township Patrolman Jason L. Lorah, with passing bad checks made out to Raymond Scheidel, 17 Mill Drive. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest last Nov. 5 for failing to appear last Oct. 12 for a pretrial hearing. He was arrested on Nov. 7 at his residence. He faces prosecution on one count of theft by deception and eight counts of passing bad checks.Scott A. Wertz, 22, Tremont, had his bench warrant dissolved after a hearing and he was remanded to the county prison to await further proceedings. He faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol brought by Trooper Thomas Hornung when stopped on SR209 in Pine Grove Township. He had entered a guilty plea to the charge in March 2010 and was sentenced by Judge Jacqueline Russell to serve two years on probation after spending six months in prison.Divorces grantedKristopher E. Naugle, 108 Sixth St., Coaldale, was granted a divorce from Heather L. Naugle, 362 W. Klein Ave., Lansford. They were married April 26, 2005.Kathy L. Maradeo, 1032 Clamtown Road, Tamaqua R.D., was granted a divorce from David B. Maradeo, 9 Spruce Terrace, Nesquehoning. They were married Oct. 30, 1982.Joseph Cappella was granted a divorce from Christine Cappella, both of Pottsville. They were married Aug. 29, 1988.Timothy A. Porczynski, Pottsville, was granted a divorce from Patricia A. Porczynski, Hamburg. They were married Nov. 20, 2003.Kevin E. Hughes was granted a divorce from Tammy L. Hughes, both of Ringtown. They were married Oct. 12, 2002.Jessica M. Snyder, Pottsville, was granted a divorce from John C. Snyder, Reading. They were married Oct. 31, 2004.MortgageforeclosuresBank of America, Plano, Tex., filed suit against Renee P. Deskiewicz, claiming $97,359.89 is owed on the mortgage on the property at 412 E. Union St., Tamaqua, and seeks a judgment and foreclosure.M&T Bank filed suit against Sarah A. Weaver, last known address, 321 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, alleging she has defaulted mortgage payments on the property at 19 Bull Run Road, Coaldale. The bank alleges the amount owed on the mortgage is $33,291.71 plus interest and costs.US Bank National Association, Columbus, Ohio, filed suit against Vicki J. Steigerwalt alleging she owed a balance on the mortgage on the property at $31,621.04, plus interest and cost on the property at 113 S. Elizabeth St., Tamaqua.Deutsch Bank National Trust Company, Columbus, Ohio, filed suit against Thomas G. Hudock alleging he owes $60,804.03 on a mortgage on the property at 10 Center St., Kelayres, Kline Township, plus interest and costs.
