Minor home repair services available for Carbon residents

Carbon County Action Committee for Human Services announces that there are chore minor home repair services available for income eligible county homeowners who are personally unable to perform certain home maintenance tasks and have no other responsible person available or capable of performing these tasks.

Chore services are provided for the purpose of maintaining a person's safety in the home and may include installing smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, or bathroom grab bars for tub and toilet areas; repairing indoor and outdoor handrails; replacing loose floorboards or steps; and installing outdoor ramps (funding, space and size permitting).Cosmetic home improvements and major housing repairs are not permissible under the program. Services are provided based on need and problem resolution and may be restricted in amount and type based on available funding and other program and/or structural requirements and limitations.Income guidelines to be eligible for assistance are: $27,925 annual income for one person; $37,825 for a two-person household; $47,725 for three people; $57,625 for four people; $67,525 for five people. If more than five people in the household, gross annual income increases by $9,900 per person.Some income exclusions may apply. Anyone in need of assistance or for more information, call the Carbon County Action Committee Office at (610) 377-6400, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.Chore services are made possible through the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare's Human Services Development Fund with the support of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Community Services Block Grant funds.
