Monroe driver facing charges

A Monroe County driver is facing several charges following incidents reported on Sunday, Jan. 6.

Pocono Mountain Regonal police responded to a reported vehicle into a ditch about 11:36 p.m. along Long Pond Road. On scene the driver was identified as Peter R. Jakiemchek III, 32, of Long Pond. He was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence (DUI).Police said meanwhile Jakiemchek's girlfriend, Markeeda Butler, 22, of Albrightsville, reported that he had assaulted her prior to the crash by intentionally crashing into her vehicle along SR115 after leaving a local tavern. She sustained a minor injury after Jakiemchek struck her after crashing into her.He was taken into custody and charged with additional counts of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering, reckless driving, and careless driving. He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.
