A two-vehicle crash was reported on Friday, Jan. 4, about 3:01 p.m. along SR924, in East Union Township, Schuylkill County, involving vehicles operated by a husband and wife.

State police at Frackville said Janice L. Long-Ashman, 48, driving a 2006 Ford Focus, and her husband, John R. Ashman, 51, both of Ringtown, driving a 2000 Ford F150 pickup truck, were both traveling north and down a hill with Mrs. Ashman behind her husband. Another vehicle was stopped for unknown reasons, blocking traffic. Several other vehicles had already stopped. Ashman stopped for the traffic ahead but his wife was unable to stop in time and the front of her car hit the rear of the truck.No one was injured. Damages were severe to the Focus, troopers added. Mrs. Ashman was cited for following too closely.
