A child's special request to Santa

Dear Editor:

With over 20 years experience as a professional Santa, seeing thousands of children each year, answering hundreds of questions about Santa and the North Pole, and receiving tons of letters, I was touched to the core by a letter from one very special little girl this Christmas. As a professional Santa, we are taught not make promises that cannot be kept and the letter I received from this little girl is one that I surely wish that I could keep. I received the letter from 8-year-old Mackenzie on my last stop for the evening on Christmas Eve. Upon returning to the North Pole, I opened the letter, read it, and had tears in my eyes as I thought of her request.Dear Santa,All I want for Christmas is for you to take some of my presents up to heaven and give them to the kids that died at Sandy Hook Elementary School. I want them to have a Merry Christmas, too,Signed: Love Mackenzie BonserI truly wish I had the power to fill the request of this very caring and thoughtful little girl who was only thinking of others and not herself. She has definitely grasped the true meaning of the Christmas season and the Christmas spirit.May all of us who read this letter, be touched by the Spirit of Christmas each and every day of the year.santad@ptd.netDwight FreyLehighton
