Michael McFadden, 24, of 318 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, faces charges from an incident which took place on Oct. 30 on E. Patterson St., Lansford. Charges of false identification to law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness were filed by Det./Sgt. Jack Soberick and Officer Joshua Tom.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:At about 9 p.m., the officers were on duty and received a call about a suspicious person near the intersection of East Patterson and South Walnut streets. The suspicious male entered 17 S. Walnut St., went inside, locked the door and sat Indian-style in front of it, blocking the door from opening.Police could see him through the front windows, and tried to talk with him. When they knocked, the man jumped up, spilling several round pink pills. He nervously tried to pick them up and put them in his jacket pocket.Police tried to make physical contact with him, and he identified himself as Shawn McFadden. He was apparently under the influence of a controlled substance, as he had slurred speech, glassy eyes and had trouble maintaining his balance.A pat-down revealed nothing on his person. However, lying next to his hat, money and other personal items were several of the pink pills that had fallen out of a silver or tin container. There was also a silver pipe of the type commonly used to smoke crack cocaine.Police arrested McFadden for drug possession. Upon questioning, he admitted to having given police a false name, and admitted to being Michael McFadden. He had given police his brother Shawn's name.
