Two persons were injured in a crash at 3:57 p.m. Dec. 30 at the intersection of SR209 and Washington Street in Middleport, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Mary J. Kristoff, 69, of Middleport, and Mark E. Pelton, 36, of Bethlehem, sustained injuries of unknown severity. Kristoff was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, by the Pottsville EMS, while Pelton was taken to the St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale..Police said the accident happened when Kristoff, driving a 2000 Chevrolet 1500, failed to yield to approaching traffic and pulled out onto SR209 into the path of a 2008 Nissan Rogue driven by Pelton. The front of the Nissan made impact with the driver's side front of the 1500. After impact the Nissan traveled northeast through the parking lot of the Middleport Post Office before impacting a residential property causing damage to its foundation.Police said Kristoff will be cited for causing the accident.
