Summit Hill woman involved in crash

State police at the Fogelsville barracks were summoned at 5:23 p.m. Dec. 29 to investigate a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 78 westbound in Salisbury Township.

Police said one person was injured, that being David Allen, 36, of Harleysville. Police said he was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by the Cetronia EMS. The extent of his injuries is not known.Police said the accident happened when a 1997 Cadillac DeVille operated by Michele Bennek, 43, of Summit Hill, struck the rear of a 2011 Mitsubishi Galant operated by Nathan A. Thomas, 32, of Allentown, pushing that vehicle into the rear of a 2012 Acura TL driven by Allen. The impact caused the Galant to strike the rear of a 2001 Toyota Avalon operated by Patrick G. Mclean, 23, of Allentown.Police said the DeVille came to rest in the right travel lane at the point of impact while the Galant came to rest on the north shoulder against a concrete barrier. The other two vehicles came to a controlled rest on the right shoulder of the roadway.Police said Bennek, Thomas and Allen will be cited for following too closely. All three of their vehicles were towed from the scene.
