Lowell R. Koch, a 46-year-old turkey farm owner and operator in Tamaqua R. 1, has been selected the 1978 Master Farmer Award, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Farmer Magazine and Cooperative Extension Service of Pennsylvania State University. Koch's Turkey Farm produces 160,000 turkeys annually. When he first entered the turkey business, he was in partnership with his father and they had 1,500 turkeys and a laying flock. In 1970, his turkey production topped 100,000.
