Robert Hoffman, 59, of Tamaqua, sustained minor injuries when he was assaulted while he tried to offer assistance during a verbal argument between two other people.
Police said Hoffman was driving on Old Route 209 between Tuscarora and Newkirk at 9:55 p.m. Dec. 27 when he came upon a vehicle stopped in the roadway. Police said Hoffman approached the vehicle and found a male and female engaged in the argument. Hoffman attempted to offer assistance but was shoved to the ground by the male occupant as the couple fled the area west on Old Route 209.The vehicle was a dark-colored sedan. Police said the male occupant was in his mid 20s and is white, wearing dark-colored clothing and having dark hair.
