Lauren J. Lorent, 21, of Mahanoy City, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 10 a.m. Dec. 30 on the High Road in Butler Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said she suffered moderate injuries and was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, in the Ashland ambulance.Police said she was driving a 2002 Toyota Rav-4 eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle on the slush-covered roadway. The vehicle began to fish-tail and eventually slid across the westbound land before traveling down an embankment where its right fender struck and downed a medium-sized tree. Police said the vehicle traveled completely down the downsloping embankment and its front struck the rising slope embankment. The vehicle spun counter-clockwise, coming to rest about 20 feet off the west berm.The vehicle was towed from the scene.Police said Lorent will be cited for causing the accident.
