Volleyball teams enjoy success

Marian, Pleasant Valley, Lehighton and Panther Valley all posted volleyball victories on Thursday.



Marian defeated Shenandoah Valley at home, 25-8, 25-5, 25-10.

Grave Boyle had 11 kills, five digs, Ashton Galasso had ten digs, and Madsyon Dyer had nine aces, two digs.

Marian finished the regular season 16-2 overall, 13-2 in league play.

Pleasant Vy-PM East

Pleasant Valley cruised to a 25-1, 25-7, 25-10 Mountain Valley Conference win over Pocono Mountain East.

Kalli Walling paced the Bears' attack with six assists, four digs and one ace, while Ashley Rivera added five kills, five digs and one ace.

Kiesten Griesback (11 assists, one dig), MacKenzie Dorney (six aces, three kills, two digs) and Bridget Lozier (three kills, two assists, one dig) contributed to the victory.

Pleasant Valley improves to 10-1 in the MVC.

PM West-Lehighton

Lehighton defeated Pocono Mountain West in a Mountain Valley Conference match, 25-10, 25-8, 25-21.

Standouts for Lehighton include: Jackie Jordan three aces, 10 kills, six digs, Taylor Yurasits 20 assists, three kills, and Alyssa Jordan five kills one dig.

Lourdes-Panther Vy.

Panther Valley rolled to a 25-12, 25-17, 25-12 victory over visiting Lourdes Regional in a Schuylkill League match.

Kelsey Van Horn paced the Panthers with 17 service points, eight assists, four digs and three kills. Teammate Jamey Mikovich added eight service points, seven kills, three digs and two aces.

Jessica Wiese added seven service points, seven digs and six kills for PV, while Kayla Kahlak contributed 12 digs and two kills.

Pine Grove-Tamaqua

Pine Grove defeated Tamaqua, 25-17, 25-18, 25-9.

Tamaqua standouts included: Carly Trovinger 16 assists, five kills, one block, six digs, Talli Matukonis seven digs, and Alexis Baddick had one ace, five kills, and four digs.


Jim Thorpe-Schuylkill Haven

Schuylkill Haven routed Jim Thorpe, 8-0, in Schuylkill League action.

Jason Wilson scored the first three Haven goals and aassisted on the fourth to lead his team.

Olympian goalie Carter Rodriguez had 16 saves.


Palmerton-No. Lehigh

Five different players scored as Northern Lehigh blanked Palmerton for a 5-0 Colonial League victory.

Kelsey Follweiler led the Bulldogs with a goal and two assists, while Shannon Weil chipped in with one goal and one assist.

Erika McKay, Julie Knerr and Cheyenne Mazzocca all added single scores for the Bulldogs.

The Bombers' keeper Candace Keck finished with 10 saves, while Chelsea Harlan posted two saves.

Pleasant Vy-Stroudsburg

Stroudsburg defeated Pleasant Valley at home in a Mountain Valley Conference match up, 3-1.

Brittany Thornton paced the Mounties with two goals, while Sami DeVivo recorded the other score.

Melissa Russo scored the Bears' lone goal.

Stroudsburg finished the regular season a perfect 18-0. They outscored their opponents an amazing 71-5.
