Dear Editor:

I read in the Times News that the "Blue Boxes," to collect cans, newspapers, and magazines. will now be discontinued. I too saved all these things, but when I read what it cost, I could understand the reasoning for discontinuing this practice. Probably most families saved these in certain boxes, bags or containers. Since we have to put them out with our garbage, why not save them and put them in different bags then our garbage. More than likely many of these bags don't go directly to the landfills, so they can be separated from common garbage and put to good use…well maybe.It sure can't hurt, because we would be saving the county money along with saving our landfills for common garbage.David KuchtaNesquehoning
