Weather delays Interstate 81 construction

Road de-icing trucks were the only PennDOT vehicles on Interstate 81 late last night as major construction work, originally scheduled to start Tuesday, was delayed due to weather. Major construction work on Interstate 81 in Delano Township will include single lane conditions for work related to the ongoing Interstate 81 Bridge Rehabilitation Project. The southbound lane of Interstate 81, just past the McAdoo exit (Exit 138), would be shifted to the northbound side. Southbound traffic would then be shifted back to the southbound lanes at the Delano exit (Exit 134). Later on in the project, the traffic pattern will be reversed (both directions of traffic on the northbound side) as construction workers do repairs to the southbound side of I-81. The estimated completion date is October 31, 2013. PennDOT encourages drivers to use caution and obey posted speed limits throughout the work zone. Our area is expected to receive 1 to 5 inches of snow today into tomorrow.
