Palmerton library plans busy month

Children and teen activities

Summer Reading Club for grades K-6 will take place Fridays at 10:30 a.m. through July 26. Activities include stories, games, crafts and more.Preschool Circle Time for ages 3-5 is offered Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. through July 25.Watercolor painting classes are offered on Tuesdays for children. Call the teacher at (610) 824-4962 for more information. New classes for adults and kids are now forming.New members are welcome to join the Teen Advisory Group. Check out the new bulletin board beside the elevator for details about meeting days and events. Call the library and ask for Mariann for details.Multiple copies of the required readings for grades 7-12 in the Palmerton Area School District are available at the library. Mrs. Hoffner will be available on Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. for extra help with written assignments.Fund driveThe library is currently holding its annual fund drive. Donations can be made online at

www.palmertonarealibrary.com.Book saleThe library basement book sale is open regular library hours. New books arrive on a weekly basis as well as movies, puzzles and CDs. Volunteers are needed to sort and place books on shelves.Activities for allThe knitting club meets the first and third Monday of each month from 6-8 p.m. The club is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting of all skill levels.Yoga classes are offered every Saturday at 9 a.m. Call the teacher at (570) 436-1762 for more information or stop by on Saturday.The library board of directors meets the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.Friends of the Palmerton Area Library meet four times a year. The next meeting will be Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.A new quilt guild is forming in Palmerton and will meet at the library on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Please use the side door. Bring your ideas and enthusiasm.Children and adults can sign up for the "Reading Chain" contest and compete for prizes.A free concert featuring Jay Smar will take place Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m.A new online book club is forming soon. Details will be posted on Facebook.Computer Classes will be starting again in the fall.
