Scranton driver facing DUI count
A Scranton woman has been cited by McAdoo police.
Patrolman Steven Homanko was on patrol on Dec. 28, 2012, when he observed a green Chevrolet Malibu in the area of Blaine and Cleveland streets. There were two occupants in the vehicle and the engine was idling. Approximately 30 minutes later the Malibu was in the same spot, with the engine still running.
Homanko approached the vehicle to check on the safety of the occupants and discovered two females inside, with a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle's interior.
The occupants weren't cooperative at first, with the driver telling the officer to wait until she was finished talking on the phone. She was identified as Kristi Lee Raymer, 21, of 1331 Dartmouth St. The passenger was identified as Leah Marie Hornish of Clifford.
As the officer was running a records check on the women, Hornish began yelling, to the point that officials at the Schuylkill County Communications Center, hearing the verbal abuse, dispatched a back up unit from Rush Township.
Raymer was given, and failed, three field sobriety tests. A portable breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of .124 percent. She was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for blood tests, which indicated a .105 BAC. She was cited for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.
