Teenage cyclist injured after impacting vehicle

A 14-year-old boy was transported by medical helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Cedar Crest after reportedly riding his bicycle into the side of a moving car in McAdoo last evening.

Emergency responders were called to the intersection of West Grove Street, Bayview Avenue and James Street (near the SR309 intersection) just after 7 p.m.Kline Township Police reported that the teenager was traveling down Bayview Avenue when he struck the passenger side of a 1997 Mercury being driven by John Scott of McAdoo.In addition to smashing the window of the car, the impact resulted in a large dent in the door.MedEvac landed at an area cemetery to transport the teenager to the hospital. Responding in addition to police were McAdoo Fire Company, McAdoo Ambulance, Hazleton ALS and others.Patrolman John Gorski is the investigating officer.
