A Lehighton man is facing several charges following an incident that occurred on June 22.

Borough police said about 2:49 a.m. they were called to the 200 block of N. First Street for a disturbance involving a male with a knife.

Through an investigation police said they have charged Jonathan Turner, 28, of 207 N. First St., Apt. C, with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they learned through their investigation that earlier in the evening a 25-year-old female was standing outside on the sidewalk in the area of 207 N. First St., when Turner approached her and asked for a cigarette. She refused and he began to call her names. She retreated into a business nearby.

Later when she and her friend were leaving the business, Turner approached her, pushed her by her throat and slammed his apartment door on her arm. Minutes later he emerged from his apartment and threatened to stab the 24-year-old male, who was with the female, with a knife.

A warrant has been issued for Turner's arrest, police added.
