Palmerton Area Library announces bookmarker winners

During National Library Week in April, the Palmerton Area Library sponsored a bookmark design contest for children in preschool through grade six. Over 100 children participated in the contest. The library has announced the winners of the contest in three age categories as follows:

• Preschool and kindergarten: First place, Joshua Merkel (Parkside Elementary); second place, Brianna Hicks (Parkside Elementary); third place, Cassie Hager (Parkside Elementary)• Grades 1-3: First place, Ben Stockton (homeschool) and Emily Gorman (SS Palmer Elementary); second place, Emma Christman (SS Palmer Elementary) and Connor Steffie (St. John Newman Regional School); third place, Erika Pysher (Towamensing Elementary) and Shen DeNardo (Peters Elementary)• Grades 4-6: First place, Logan Pfaff (Towamensing Elementary School); second place. Mikayla Dolsay (SS Palmer Elementary); third place, Rachael Dickson (SS Palmer Elementary).The winners each received a new book from the library and a gift certificate for the library basement book sale. The winning designs were printed and are available as free bookmarks at the library.The library is open Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The library has six computers available for use by the public.
