Four persons hurt in Clamtown crash

Four persons suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 8:40 p.m. Dec. 24 on Route 443, Clamtown Road, in Walker Township, according to state police at the Frackville barracks.

Police said the crash occurred as a 2005 Toyota Corolla operated by Colin L. Johnson, 19, of Tamaqua, was westbound on the roadway and a 2009 Jeep Cherokee driven by Jason T. Walker, 37, of New Ringgold, was eastbound. Police said the roadway was covered with snow when Johnson attempted to negotiate a right curve in the roadway and his speed was too fast as the vehicle slid into the oncoming lane of travel. The front of the Corolla slammed into the front of the Jeep and after impact, the Corolla spun back across both lanes and came to rest on the north shoulder.Police said Johnson will be cited for failure to drive a vehicle at a safe speed.Johnson and Walker were among those who were hurt, as were James A. Bradford III, 20, of Tamaqua, a passenger with Johnson, and Joan M. Miller, 42, of Tamaqua, who was riding with Walker.
