Fire crews from several Carbon County fire companies responded to a dwelling fire this morning in the Packerton section of Mahoning Township. The fire was first reported just after 8 a.m. when smoke was spotted coming from the eves of the two story wood frame dwelling. Fire companies from Lehighton and Mahoning Valley responded to the scene and did find a fire within the structure. Firefighters were on the scene for over an hour. The scene is along SR209 in the village of Packerton.
