Gerald Heffner, 49, of Sheppton, has been arrested by state police at the Frackville barracks on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said the charge is a result of an accident at 10:10 p.m. Dec. 20 on Route 924 in Gilberton.Police said he was driving a vehicle that struck a concrete barrier, causing it to sustain a flat tire and become disabled.Police said Heffner showed signs of intoxication and was transported to the state police barracks for a breath test., which revealed his blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit.
