LAHS alleged threat is being investigated

On Thursday, Lehighton Area High School reportedly received information that an alleged threat was made.

Lehighton Area School District Superintendent Jonathan J. Cleaver stated, "We cannot confirm or deny whether or not the threat was made."As soon as the school district received word of the alleged threat, the high school administration contacted local police and immediately began an investigation."At no time were the students or staff in any danger," said Cleaver. "As a district, the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. Our staff and administration make a good faith effort everyday to assure the students receive the best possible education in a safe environment."Lehighton Police Department is assisting the high school administration as the investigation into the alleged threat continues."We are currently and will continue to take all necessary precautions to assure the students' and staff's safety," summed up Cleaver.There was a police presence at the high school as students entered the building on Friday morning.
