Plans for new Lafayette Street mural on display in Tamaqua

Tamaqua Area Middle School students with Kim Woodward's art class are preparing ideas and draft murals in preparation of re-painting the old mural located along the Lafayette Street hill in Tamaqua. Small draft sized portions of their future artwork are currently on display in the Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine Street. "This is only a small portion of what we have planned," said Woodward. "We have been spending the last year researching, planning and practicing for the actual event." The murals showcase important architecture and historical images from Tamaqua's community heritage. Artists consist of McKenzie McVicker, Ryan Alicandri, Kendra Boyle, Jenny Beck, Alexa Hromyak, Zoe Snyder, Emma Rago, Alexis Higgins, Spencer DePue, Kyle Ruch, Abigale Agosti, Hannah Stott, Peter Sterling, Madison Valentine and Hannah Reed. The murals will remain on display at the center for a few more weeks.
