Rush Township Board of Supervisors held a budget meeting where they found there is going to be no tax increases for residents. Other than a $20 increase for garbage, everything stays the same.

Next, the board appointed Thomas Murphy to the planning commission for a four-year term, beginning Jan. 1.Lastly, a new trash and sewer billing program will begin with the fourth quarter of 2012. All payments can be mailed to 104 Mahanoy Avenue, Tamaqua, PA 18252. Also, with the holidays falling on a Tuesday, Friday trash pickup for the week of Christmas and New Year's will be on Saturday.Also concerning sewer issues, the board asked that residents refrain from dumping oils and grease down the drains, for it is causing damage to the pumps.The next board of supervisors meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. in the municipal building with the regular meeting immediately following.
