Members of the Tamaqua Boy Scouts, Tamaqua Girl Scouts and Tamaqua area churches came together over the past weekend to light the town wth luminary candles during Tamaqua's Night of the Luminaria event. The event, coordinated through the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network (TAFFN), involved hundreds of luminarias, as well as many volunteer man hours. Organizer George Taylor stated his appreciation for all who helped by purchasing a luminary kit or by volunteering during the event, which benefited the Tamaqua Salvation Army's heating fuel fund for needy families. Tamaqua Girl Scout Ashley DeAngelo, 12, places luminary bags around the Depot Square Park prior to the event.
