Police and firefighters in Tamaqua responded to the second block of Pine Street (SR309) around 7 a.m. today after traffic became backed up a few miles. When they responded, they saw 16 downed telephone and cable lines disconnected from the utility poles. Some layed across SR309, causing the heavy backup in traffic. The cause was unknown.
