Pajama Christmas party in the library

The Teen Group at Palmerton Area Library wanted kids to "Get in the Spirit!" for Christmas, so they invited preschool through third-grade children to come to their Christmas party. The children were told they could wear their pajamas.

Members of the Teen Group read the children stories, helped them make Christmas ornaments, played games and ate cookies. After all the merriment and it was time to go home, each child was given a wrapped present their very own book."The Teen Group did all the organizing and work. The books were all donated. I think everyone had a good time," said Mariann Kmetz, assistant director. "We had about 100 children attend."Judging by all the laughter and smiles from both children and parents, the evening was a total success."I think this is great. It's so good for the kids to be in a large group that was so well organized. It helped get them in the spirit of Christmas," said Melissa Linko of Lehighton. Those who would like to donate children's books for next year's event, may drop them off at 402 Delaware Ave. Specify that they are for the Teen Group Christmas party.
