Despite subfreezing temperatures, over 150 people took part in a drill simulating an accident involving a school bus and a van in Lehighton. Individuals playing the roles of the crash victims had injured backs, internal injuries, bruises, and cuts. There were three "fatalities." The injured were transported to emergency rooms of area hospitals. A simulated fire was extinguished by members of Lehigh Fire Company No. 1 and Engine Company No. 2 in Lehighton. The Lehighton Civil Defense Unit was also involved in the drill.
