Open house scheduled at Dedicated Fitness

Want to stick to that New Year's Resolution to lose weight?

If so, then a Palmerton training center will provide the means to see that decision through. An open house will be held at Dedicated Fitness from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for those who wish to sign up for a seven-week program. As part of the event, gym members will visit to promote how the training center has positively impacted their lives. In addition, special discounts will be offered for those who wish to join the gym or sign up for classes.Owner Kerri Jahelka said the program seeks to promote a "lifestyle change.""Dedicated Fitness has combined the knowledge, education, and personal successes of our staff with the personal successes of some of our members, to provide an outstanding program," Jahelka said. "By committing to a seven-week journey with the coaches and special guests of Dedicated Fitness, you will be learning to change your mindset. You will become a more positive successful person, not only with food and exercise but with daily life too."Jahelka noted that one common goal is a commitment to lose weight."However, many of us usually commit for several weeks, and then for whatever reason; lack of support, lack of results, boredom or chaos, the dream dies and commitment ceases," she said. "Losing weight seems out of reach, too hard, or too frustrating."The program, Jahelka said, was created to help individuals stay committed to achieve their New Year's Resolution weight loss goals.Jahelka said each team represents a particular choice in diet: Either a clean eating, caveman style, or a portion control, sensible solutions style. Both teams will focus on the importance of thinking positively, and acknowledging those sabotaging thoughts and redirecting them with helpful responses, Jahelka said. She said the teams will each have a homework packet each of the seven weeks that covers positive thinking exercises, challenges, and nutrition guidance and exercise prescription. The support system setup within the program is like no other, said Jahelka, who added members will attend weekly motivational/educational meetings. She said they will be privy to private team blogs used for daily support and information. Group classes and "pick-up" workouts will be available, if so desired, as well, Jahelka said."We will use techniques, such as daily food journaling, and offer suggestions where necessary," she said. "Each team member will be given a 'power' bracelet to wear throughout the challenge as a reminder to why they chose to do the program. It also serves as a reminder of the support surrounding them, the support of the coaches, guests, and participants will no doubt greatly impact the decision to persevere and never give up."For more information, visit
