Trucker dies in Schuylkill crash

A Lackawanna truck driver died when he crashed his vehicle along a Schuylkill County road on Tuesday. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred about 5:45 a.m. along SR25 at the Camp A While property in Hegins Township.

Troopers said Robert J. Taylor, 46, of Scranton, was operating a 2006 International 4300 truck westbound and attempting to negotiate a curve in the road. He lost control of the truck traveled off the road where Taylor then counter-steered back into the westbound lane.The truck then crossed the center line into the eastbound lane where Taylor began to steer back into the westbound lane. At this point Clinton Otto, 51, of Hegins, was driving a 1998 Honda Civic eastbound. He swerved to avoid the truck and traveled off the road in a southeast direction striking a drainage ditch along the eastbound lane.Taylor's truck traveled across the westbound lane onto the berm and up an embankment where it struck a tree. Upon impact with the tree the truck traveled back onto the road, across the lanes of travel and struck a fence at the entrance to Camp A While, where it came to rest.Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene by county deputy coroner Sandra Poletti. Damages were turned heavy to the front of the truck.Otto was not injured and damages to his car were termed minior to the front end.
