The Holy Name Society of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will meet at 8 p.m. this Thursday. The meeting will be preceded by a Mass, which will begin at 7:30 p.m.First Friday will be observed this week. Communion calls will be made on Thursday for residents of Hometown and Coaldale. All others will begin Friday at 9 a.m. First Friday confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by Mass and devotions at 8 a.m.Saturday, Dec. 8, is a holy day of obligation. Masses for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception will be celebrated Friday at 7 p.m. and at 8 a.m. on Saturday.The choirs rehearse on Wednesdays children's choir at 6 p.m., adult choir at 7 p.m.Senior citizensThe Tamaqua Seniors met Nov. 29 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 83 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session and provided the invocation, entitled "Seasons of the Heart."Reports were offered by Vice President Nancy Gerber and secretary Garber. Betty Murphy and Mike Rega were added to the sick list. A get-well card was sent to Rose Vallee. October and November birthdays were celebrated, complete with cake and ice cream.The meeting concluded with cards and social games.The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m., at the community center.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.Holiday concertThe Tamaqua Senior High School Music Department will present its annual Holiday Music Program this Thursday, Dec. 6. The concert will be held in the school district auditorium, beginning at 7:30 p.m., and will feature presentations by the student concert choir, the Jazz Choral, the Senior High Wind Ensemble and the Raider Concert Band.The program will end with a sing-a-long. Accompanists will be Francesca Gerace, Patrick McMullen and Molly Betz.The Raider Band and Senior High Wind Ensemble are under the direction of Mark Beltz, while the Concert Choir and Jazz Chorale are under the direction of John Buglio.Doors will open at 6:45 p.m.
