Woman dies in Schuylkill crash

A Schuylkill County woman died when her car crashed into a vacant home on Friday. State police at Frackville said the accident occurred about 1:20 p.m. along Main St. in Gilberton borough.

Troopers said Denise Blashock, 58, of Ashland, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Impala eastbound and entering the west end of the borough at an extremely high rate of speed.As she negotiated a right curve, Blashock lost control of the car which began to rotate slightly clockwise. The car traveled into the oncoming lane before crossing back into the eastbound lane.At this point the car left the road and slid across the unoccupied grassy lot at 416 and 414 Main St. The car then crashed into the side of an abandoned home at 412 Main St. Impact was severe, troopers said.The car went entirely into the house and punched partway through the dividing wall of the adjoining home at 410 Main St., which is also abandoned.Blashock was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by rescue personnel. While being prepped by emergency medical personnel at the scene and waiting for a medical helicopter to arrive, Blashock died, troopers said.Troopers added that both homes that sustained damages were scheduled to be demolished.
