Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported on two crashes probed by troopers in Schuylkill roadways this week.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 4:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22, along SR54 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Anthony G. Yost, 24, of Middleport, was driving a 2001 Kia Optima westbound when he fell asleep. The car went onto the north berm where it struck a metal sign post on the property of Interstate Sunoco.Yost was not injured but damages to the car were disabling, troopers said. Yost was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.A one-vehicle crash occurred about 11:18 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, along Interstate 81 in Foster Township. Troopers said Thomas Grzechowski, 40, of Forest, Va., was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound when he struck a deer. Grzechowski was not injured but the Tahoe had to be towed from the scene.
