Drop charges

Criminal charges against Joseph R. Holland, 31, of Pottsville, were dismissed by President Judge William E. Baldwin on motion made by District Attorney Karen Byrnes Noon to nolle prosequi the charges after being informed the victim, Lindsey Ann Draine, Pottsville, elected to drop the charges.Draine told prosecutors she is unable to recall the event of the evening which led to Holland being cited by Pottsville Patrolman Brian Kotzmoyer, and charged with simple assault and harassment.A criminal charge of theft of services against Scott Bradley Verdier, 46, of 75 Silver Creek Road, Blythe Township, was dismissed when Baldwin granted the motion of Noon to nolle prosequi.Noon informed the court that Michael E. Burda, of Barnesville, manager of the Schuylkill Valley Sewer Authority, agreed to drop prosecution because full restitution was made. Verdier was cited by Blythe Township Chief Joseph J. Leskin, with obtaining sewage uses and water services by deception totaling $755. In both cases Baldwin placed the court costs on the defendants.Divorces grantedDanielle J. Mowery, Pottsville, was granted a divorce from Shawn M. Mowery, Auburn. They were marred July 9, 2009.Brian J. Foster was granted a divorce from Beckie M. Foster, both of Pine Grove. They were married July 5, 2007.Lance Reedy, Pottsville, was granted a divorce from Dorothy Reedy, Schuylkill Haven. They were married Jan. 2, 2001.Tracey A. Mozdy, Pittston, was granted a divorce from Paul Mozdy, Shenandoah. They were married March 1, 2001.Rhonda O'Donnell, Mahanoy Plane, was granted a divorce from Shawn O'Donnell, Frackville. They were married June 9, 1990.Andrea L. Caprio was granted a divorce from Gerard D. Caprio, both of Coopersburg. They were married July 25, 2003.MortgageforeclosuresPNC Bank of National Association filed a civil suit against Barbara L. and Keith A. Harville alleging they had defaulted on their mortgage payments on the property at 108 E. Blaine St., McAdoo, and that the principal amount owed on the mortgage is $50,797.66, plus interest and costs.Midfirst Bank, Oklahoma City, Okla., filed suit against Mihaela S. Horga, of 49 E. Pine St., Sheppton, in her capacity as executrix of the estate of Michael A. Stich. The mortgage is on a property at 210 Jackson St., McAdoo, and that a principal of $69,688.93 is owed plus interest and cost.SentencedKyle C. Kent, 32, of Mount Carmel, who was found guilty by a jury last Aug. 23 of criminal charges of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, was sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin on the assault charge to serve one to 12 months in the county prison, however, since he had already served 316 days was granted immediate parole. He received a concurrent sentence on the recklessly endangering charge.He also must pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, enroll in Anger Management classes and pay a $50 monthly supervision fee while on parole. Kent was cited by Trooper John Powis. The victim was Melissa Kent, of Girardville.
