Art work by Joan Morgan Applegate, a Tamaqua native and 1953 graduate, is currently on display at the Tamaqua Public Library. "I decided to pursue my interest in art and took classes in Colorado with English wildlife artist John Seerey-Lester and Fred Wetzel of Kempton," said Applegate. Applegate has participated in national shows at Hawk Mountain and Birdsboro, as well as local shows in Pottsville and Berks County. She is also a member of the Stone Monkey gallery in Jim Thorpe and was the winner of the Patricia Freeman Memorial Award.
