Bridge update

For those traveling Sugar Hollow Road and aware of the second bridge's planned repair, it will take until next spring. According to Robert P. Mudrick, PennDOT, the environmental permitting issues on that structure are very restricted. The only months that work can be done in this area are January, February and March. Mudrick says because of winter, this will be challenging. He hopes that in March of 2013 staff will be able to replace it.Rotary meetsWest End Rotary meets for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on Thursdays at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville. Its new PM fellowship club meets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Luna Rossa Cafe & Grill in Gilbert.The speaker for the breakfast meeting on Oct. 18, is Dave Trout of Spruce Lake Retreat.Zion SeniorsZion Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.The Monroe Senior Citizens meet at Zion also, but on Wednesdays and Fridays. They begin gathering at 9 a.m. and have a hot lunch.The Zion Seniors usually bring their own bagged lunch, with drinks provided.Contemporary serviceEffort UMC will hold its next monthly Contemporary Worship Service at 9:45 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 21.Other worship services continue at 5 p.m. each Saturday, led by Ken Edwards, and Sunday morning worship services with Pastor Robin at 8:30 and 11 a.m.Free supperOur Lady Queen of Peace serves a free Sunday supper for folks who need that service.
