Teenagers killed in N.J. crash were daughters of local man

Two teenage daughters of a Slatington couple died in a headon crash last week in Jackson, N.J.

Jaime Nicholson, 17, and Francesca Nicholson, 15, died in the two-vehicle crash collision that occurred at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9.Jaime Nicholson was pronounced dead at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, N.J. Francesca Nicholson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ocean County Medical Examiner.They were the daughters of Thomas Nicholson, and his wife, Lisa-Marie. Other obituary information appears on Page 4 of today's TIMES NEWS.According to Jackson police, Jaime Nicholson was the driver of a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 190 that went out of control, crossed the center line and collided with a 2001 Mazda MPV minivan driven by Thomas Migliaccio, 47, of Toms River, N.J.Migliaccio suffered minor injuries and was taken to Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, N.J., police said.Police said wet roads and excessive speed are being investigated as contributing circumstances to the crash. In addition to Jackson police, the Ocean County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash.The two teenagers were students at Jackson Memorial High School. Francesca, who would have noted her 16th birthday last week, was a junior student while Jaime was a senior who also attended the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES), Manahawkin, N.J.The girls were members of the Jackson Memorial Jaguar Marching Band.They belonged to St. Monica Catholic Church, Jackson, where they taught CCD and were altar servers.
