Kidder Township EAC looking for historic photographs

The Kidder Township Environmental Advisory Commission held its monthly meeting Wednesday evening. One item that is ongoing for the commission is the landmark inventory required by the comprehensive plan. Commission member Len Tiscio has been tasked with updating the old, outdated inventory.

One of the aspects of the landmark inventory addresses the history of the township. Tiscio wants to acquire as many old and historic photographs of areas of Kidder Township as part of the inventory."People who have old photographs taken anywhere in the township are welcome to send them to me to be included," said Tiscio. "I would especially like pictures of areas pre-development, buildings, scenic views, anything."Tiscio can be reached at (570) 620-6773 or by email at

rover@ptd.net.Under new business, commission member Bob Dobosh brought up the recent heavy rains, which caused the Mud Run bridge on Route 903 to be closed to traffic. The rains also caused parts of Old Stage Road and Gower Lane to be closed. Dobosh's concern is that three of the last four major rain storms resulted in road closures. Dobosh would like to see a watershed study performed for the area, and would like the group to take it under advisement and determine how to go about making the request.Dobosh is also working on the multiuse trails project. The plan calls for a set of trails to link various parts of the township together. The trails will be for walking, jogging and biking."The lack of trails and sidewalks means that people are forced to use the roadways and it's just not safe," Dobosh pointed out.Lastly the group is in the beginning stages of planning its 2013 Spring Workshop. Some ideas under consideration have to do with living with the deer population and trout fishing. The workshop should be scheduled sometime in March or May.
