A Slatington man is headed to court after he fought officers as they attempted to arrest him for drunken driving.

John Breneman Jr. 39, has been charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, drunken driving, fleeing or attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, and harassment.He was arraigned before District Judge Michael D'Amore, of Allentown, on Sunday, and sent to Lehigh County Prison under $75,000 bail.Breneman is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 15. at the Lehigh County Courthouse.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. David Alercia of the Slatington Police Department:On Oct. 6, at 11:15 p.m., Slatington police were dispatched to the Turkey Hill, at 610 Main Street, Slatington, for a disturbance, according to the affidavit.As responding, the officers were advised the suspect was leaving the scene in a blue pick-up truck and was intoxicated, the affidavit says.Officer Kevin Smith came on scene and got behind the vehicle, at which time he activated his emergency lights and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle at Dowell Street and Willow Avenue.The operator failed to yield, and continued traveling onto North Street, out to Main Street. He continued traveling to his residence, where he finally came to a stop.Officer Clifford Ponas and Frank Gnas came on scene and the operator, identified as Breneman Jr., was ordered out of the truck. He was given a field sobriety test by officer Gnas, which he failed.He was then attempted to be arrested for suspicion of DUI when he resisted arrest by shoving and officer and attempted kicking at them while trying to affect a lawful arrest.Officer Smith conducted a follow-up interview with the complainant, and the victim, Breneman's son. He was informed by Breneman's son, and others, that his father, John Breneman, grabbed him and threw him up against the truck. While holding him against the truck, he made threats that he was going to kill him over and over.
